The Way of the Cross Trail for Lent 2022
Come walk the trails during this Lent season at the Shepherd’s Tavern. Dawn to dusk you are invited to walk this marked trail. Dress for muddy areas and for the weather. There are no shelters provided. We hope and pray this will be a meaningful time of preparing for Holy Week.
We had a visitor from Michigan Elementary School stop by Shepherd’s Tavern!
A Matching Fundraiser
We’re thinking that a stimulus check should be used to stimulate something, and we can guarantee you that we have some construction and beautification projects ready to go!
This is why The Shepherd’s Tavern has a supportive couple who is challenging others to donate all or part of their stimulus checks, and they will match it!
The clock is ticking. We have until June 5, 2021 – 6 weeks!

The Shepherd’s Tavern is sponsoring the Scriptural Way of the Cross on our property for Holy Week participation and reflection starting Monday, March 29, for the entire week.
What: Outdoor Self-Guided Stations of the Cross
Following only events found in the biblical narrative of Jesus’ arrest through death on the cross and placement in the tomb, we provide a self-guided/self-paced experience that begins by parking at our garage area and walking the 20+ acre perimeter on paths and wooded trails. If recent rain, there will be some slushy trail spots.
Where: Outdoor on the land of The Shepherd’s Tavern @ 11540 Thomas Jefferson Hwy – Madisonville, VA
Parking Details and Trail Head: Holy Week 2021 Marked Footpath
We encourage you to bring this handout on your journey.
Please consider making some time this week to ponder the love of Jesus Christ evidenced in the events of His Passion!
Psalm 23:1-2 from the NLT Bible:
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows, he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
